Preface

It is by the grace of Almighty Allah that we have become successful to bring out this book in order to meet the growing needs of the students, teachers, professional managers and general readers.

With the growing recognition of the importance of Industrial Relations (IR), in the context of modern managerial complexities, the Universities all over the world have been offering courses in this area of business education.

Some of the chapters of this book appeared in the 1st edition of our book titled, "Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations." But since the importance of this descipline is being increasingly felt in the academic world, we have decided to incorporate those chapters, including some new ones in a separate book called "Industrial Relations".

As a matter of fact, there is hardly any standard text book in the market in this discipline. Even the foreign books on Industrial Relations" are not good enough to meet the needs of students of BBA and MBA programs of our country.

So, our colleagues in different universities encouraged us to bring out a book primarily in the light of the course requirements of our universities. We owe a great deal to their kind support in all possible ways. Constructive criticisms will always be welcome.
